Water Distribution Systems: Theory, modeling and practice
Course description
This short course aims to accurately model water distribution systems. The modelers need a comprehensive understanding of both hydraulics and their modeling software. The course begins with the basics of hydraulic theory as it applies to water distribution system modeling and delves into advanced topics such as the management of multiple modeling scenarios, demand allocations, model calibration, running extended period simulations and fire flow and water quality analysis. Participants will not only learn the knowledge they need to execute complex modeling tasks, but implement and reinforce their understanding through hands-on exercises accompanying every section.
Objective
Participants will become familiar with the principles of hydraulic network modeling, understand the basic and advanced capabilities of EPANET, learn the different types of model simulations and understand the methods of reviewing and maintaining a hydraulic network model.
Who can attend?
Municipal engineers, developers and planners, engineering consultants, hydraulic engineers, technicians, technologists, designers and other technical personnel who are responsible for or oversee water distribution facilities.
