Chemical Engineering Department

Chemical and Environmental Engineering Study Plan

The Department of Chemical Engineering was newly established (1992) with a few members of staff. It offers an intensive ten-semester Bachelor degree program. Currently a total of 150 students are enrolled in the department with 8 professors. These numbers are expected to increase to 250 students and 10 to 12 professors in all fields of Chemical Engineering by the year 2002.
The Department of Chemical Engineering offers a general Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. The undergraduate degree curriculum provides a wide range of basic knowledge in pure sciences such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. This is followed by an intensive coverage of a well balanced departmental requirements in different fields of Chemical Engineering, both in classrooms and laboratories. The degree requirements also include a wide spectrum of elective courses in languages, social sciences, history, management, and many other fields. Students have an access to use the latest computer facilities and software that are available in the Engineering Faculty to stimulate their engineering skills. Senior students are assigned independent projects to design systems to solve practical problems related to Chemical Engineering.

Teaching and Research labs:
The department has the following well equipped laboratories:
1- Solar Energy.
2- Reaction Engineering .
3-Process control.
4- Measurements and instrumentation.

Vision:

A Department of distinguished academic and research capabilities.
