The Faculty of Engineering was established in 1984 with four faculty members. Currently, a total of 69 faculty members of a wide spectrum of research and industrial experiences are involved in a well structured undergraduate program. The number of students increased sharply by the year 2011/2012 and reached 2500 students distributed on six different divisions. The faculty offers Bachelor Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Computer Engineering and Industrial Systems Engineering with the completion of 163 credit hours of multidisciplinary subjects, and eight weeks of field training. The Faculty of engineering provides short courses, workshops, and consulting services in different fields of Engineering through the Southern Center for Studies and Continuing Education (SCSCE).
In addition, the necessary steps are being taken to establish aliasion office to strengthen the relationship with local industries and communities. Academic staff members have a strong engineering knowledge and significant experience that is constantly improved by their research efforts. The Faculty is committed to excellence in teaching to achieve its aim in bringing forth highly trained and active graduates, with strong engineering and science background and understanding through the progress of key skills, innovation, and ambition. The Five Engineering Departments have spacious and well-equipped laboratories to support undergraduate, and possible future graduate programs. The computer laboratory in the faculty is linked to the INTERNET service which provides the latest technologies in computing facilities. Other facilities are described in the departmental entries.
