The faculty was established in August, 1994 and is located at Al-Rabbeh town, 25 km. north of the main campus of Mu'tah University. Student enrollment started in the academic year 1994/1995 in the Department of Plant Production, and 1996/1997 in the Department of Animal Production, and 2002/2003 in Department of Nutrition and Food Technology. The main goals of the Faculty include: producing qualified personnel to develop agriculture in Jordan, conducting research programs related to agriculture in Southern Jordan, and serving the community by educational programs and other methods. The faculty now grants a B.Sc, M. Sc. degree in the Departments of Plant Production, and B.Sc in Animal Production, and B.Sc in Nutrition and Food Technology .
The faculty is located in the town of Al-Rabbeh, which is about half way between Northern and southern Jordanian borders. Al-Rabbeh is located in an arid region, but in a fertile land among several agricultural communities. Al-Rabbeh's altitude is 920 m above sea level with an annual average temperature of 16.3o C and precipitation of 300 mm. The surrounding area have a wide range of environmental diversity ranging from a desert climate 20 km to the East and a subtropical climate in the Southern Jordan Valley 20 km to the West of Al-Rabbeh. The surrounding communities are actively involved in field crop, vegetable and fruit tree production. In addition, animal production, either in farm facilities or grazing, is popular in this area. The Faculty of agriculture is located in a campus with total land area of 650,000m2 with a total building area of 11,794 m2. The Faculty campus includes several facilities such as lecture rooms, agriculture extension hall, teaching and research laboratories, agricultural library, restaurant and cafeteria, computer laboratory, student activity center, administration building, maintenance facilities and the Agricultural Research Station. In addition, the campus hosts a meteorological station administered by the department of Metrology Ministry of Transportation. The Faculty contains three departments with a total number of 22 staff members. The total number of enrolled students is 426 divided into 68 for the forth year, 111 student for the third year, 122 student for the second year, and 125 student for the first academic year.
