Abstract1

The purpose of the study was to know to what extent the center of community service and continuing education (CCSCE) at the technical college in Al-Hasa meet the community needs and its individuals. The sample of the study was (30) teachers from the technical college. The result showed that the (CCSCE)  in Al-Hasa meet the local community needs by organizing training programs according to local society organizations request, facilitating registration procedures, conducting needs assessment, planning programs according to community trends, providing industrial training programs according to local market requirements. The result also showed the (CCSCE) in Al-Hasa does  not meet the needs of the local community by not providing programs in technical and agreecultural training in line with the nature of the province environment. The center does not cooperate with other colleges and universities in planning and programming. The training does not take into consideration the characteristics of the trainees, and the lack of using New Technical Training tools and methods. The result of the study showed No significant differences among the college teachers that are attributed to age, education qualification, years of experience or technichal department. And There Was Signifcant statistical differences attributed to Nationality in favor of non- Saudies.

Abstract2

This study was designed to investigate the attitudes of the students at the Jordan University of Science and Technology towards the educational technology course and to discover the effect of gender and specialization of students in those attitudes. This study consisted of a sample of (170) – made and female students who were registered in that course during the first semester 2001/2002.

A questionnaire, consisting of (30) paragraphs that were modified in order to measure the attitudes of the students and the effect of selected variations, was proven in both  reliability and validity.

For the purpose of the questions of the study, the mathematical averages, standard deviations and analysis of variance, were all executed. The results revealed the high positive attitudes of the students concerned in this study. However, the study did not reveal differences pertinent to gender (a=0.05%), but there were differences attributed to speciality of the students. These were in favor to the students at the faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Agriculture, all listed in priority, as compared to the students at the faculties of Science and Arts.

The author presents various educational recommendations pertinent to the field of educational technology, mainly that this course should be taught in all universities regardless of specialization of the students.

Abstract3

This study is aimed at finding faculty members perceptions at Yarmouk University and Jordan University of science and Technology towards their role in serving the community.

The researcher selected a stratified random sample which consisted of (300) faculty members out of (1163) that form the total population of the study at both universities. This sample represented (24.4%) from the total population of this study.

To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher developed a questionnaire after assuring its validity and reliability, it includes (69) items distributed into six domains.

The results of the study showed an average degree of the faculty members perceptions in terms of serving their community, and there were statistical differences due to experience in favor of (1-5) years and the academic rank in favor to the rank of full professor.

In the light of the results findings, the researcher recommends that the administration in both universities as well as other universities in Jordan should give more attention to the faculty members, and to activate their roles in serving their communities.

 

 

 

أثر الخبرة السابقة في الاستيعاب القرائي في اللغة العربية لدى طالبات الصف العاشر الأساسي

Abstract4

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the background knowledge in reading comprehension of the tenth grade female students.

To answer the questions of the study, a sample of (212) tenth grade female students in the private schools of Private Teaching District in Great Amman, was selected.

To achieve the purpose of this study, two instruments were designed: A 28- item test of background knowledge and A 30- item comprehension test.

The results of the study have shown that, there were significant statistical differences in the reading comprehension (P < 0.05) that can be attributed to: the background knowledge, and to the general achievement in Arabic. No significant differences attributed to the interaction between background knowledge and achievement were shown.

In conclusion, the researchers recommend: Organizing the school curriculum in Arabic in a way that builds up the suitable scheme that makes it easier for students to understand the reading text. Also, similar studies should be done on different parts of districts in the Ministry of Education in order to identify and generalize the results of this study.

 

 

 إنموذج للقيادة التربوية في المؤسسات التربوية العراقية

Abstract5

This research is aimed at constructing an educational leadership model for Iraqi educational institutions, through determining the basic components of the model, and the main elements of each component. The sample consisted of (20) specialized experts in the fields of public administration and educational administration, as well as administrators in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq. The researcher constructed a questionnaire. It contained seven basic components: the educational leader, the subordinates, the situation, the educational and administrative legislations, the achieved objectives, and the external environment. The instrument was administered by using Delphi technique for three rounds. Means and  standard deviations were used as statistical tools. The findings indicated that, the seven components of the model were accepted by the experts as basic components. The main conclusions of the study were: a) the external environment, represented by the social system, affects the educational leadership of the educational institutions, b)  the situation through which educational leadership is practiced is considered as a crucial factor in determining the leadership behavior required for achieving the educational goals.

 

 

 

    مستويات اهتمام معلمي الصفوف الأساسية الدنيا في تقبل الحاسوب كتجديد تربوي وتوظيفه في التدريس

Abstract6

The purpose of the study was to determine the levels of concerns of elementary school teachers in accepting and utilizing the computer, as an educational innovation, in their teaching practices.  The study also examined whether there were any differences in the degree of concerns in these levels among teachers that can be attributed to gender and experience.

A questionnaire was constructed to determine teachers’ concerns.   The validity and reliability were computed and found suitable to conduct the study.  The questionnaire was distributed to a random sample composed of 149 elementary school teachers (97 female and 52 male) from Irbid schools district in Jordan.

The study revealed that the highest degree of teachers` concerns in accepting computers and utilizing them in their teaching practices was focused on personal concerns; the second highest degree of concern was focused on management concerns.  On the other hand, the study found out that the lowest degree of  teachers` concerns was focused on the awareness of computers role in the classroom  and on the full adoption of computer as an educational innovation and thinking of methods of using it in their teaching practices. The study did not also find any significant differences among teachers in their levels of concerns attributed to gender. Regarding the experience, the study didn’t reveal any significant differences among teachers in their concerns attributed to experience, however, some significant differences were found in some stages of concerns. Appropriate recommendations were suggested based on the results of the study.

 

 

 

دراسة لأبعاد شخصية طلبة كلية علوم الرياضة في جامعة مؤتة

Abstract7

This study was aimed at recognizing personality characteristics of sport sciences students at Mu'tah University, and to recognize differences in personality determinants according to gender and academic level.

The subjects of this study were (119) students (male = 63, female = 56).

The investetigator used the description method in its surveying form, using Fraiborge form as a tool for collecting information. It consisted of eight dimensions, divided into (56) items , the dimensions are related to rage, offence,  sadness, ability to be aggravated, social status, calmness, being bossy and self control .

The results of this study have shown that personality dimensions among sport science students are positive.

The results have also shown the presence of statistically significant differences on the dimension offence and being bossy which are attributed to male students, and that which is attributed to female students at the dimension of self control.

The study revealed the presence of differences of statistical significance attributed to academic level, in favor of level four on the dimension calmness, and on the dimension of selfcontrol significance attributed to level one.  

 

 

دراسة المعوقات التي تواجه الناشئين العرب للوصول للمستويات العليا في السباحة

Abstract8

This study is aimed at determining the barriers that prevent Arab junior swimmers from reaching high levels in swimming. It is also aimed at identifying the differences amongst these barriers according to state, gender, swimming style, and swimming distance. A questionnaire that contains 70 items represented in six dimensions (technical, facilities, psychological, administrative, social, and financial) was designed to achieve the aims of this study. The sample size of this study was 96 male and female swimmers that represent the Arab states that participated in the Seventh Arabic Championship. The results of this study indicated that financial barriers were the most important barriers that prevented the novice swimmers from reaching the highest levels.  It was also recommended that by increasing the financial support and holding international training courses to improve the abilities of coaches will help the Arab novice swimmers in reaching the highest levels.
